Food First Organization states that, "The central aim of most Food Policy Councils is to identify and propose innovative solutions to improve local or state food systems, spurring local economic development and making food systems more environmentally sustainable and socially just."The Four Functions of a Food Policy Council are:1. A forum for discussing food issues2. To foster coordination between sectors in the food system.3. To evaluate and influence policy 4. To launch or support programs and services that address local needs.
There are many sectors in our regional foodshed that are often siloed from working and partnering together.
We hope to bring these key players together to not only solve the root causes of hunger but to elevate our food and farming into a regional, robust community food system that works for all.
